First off, welcome to Tranquil Acres Farm's official ranch blog. Here will be tales of ranch life and my journey with training, breeding and competeing the horses that call TAF home. With any luck, I will remember to post regularly. Now for, an introduction and some ranch history...
My name is BitterCowgal, but those who know me usually just call me Bitter. I am the current owner of Tranquil Acres Farm. The ranch has been in my family for well over 150 years and will hopefully be in the family for a very long time to come. We're located in a gorgeous valley nestled in the mountains in Northwestern Montana. Over the years we have increased in size and now boast a 200 acre spread complete with all the most modern amenities. The comfort, happiness and health of our horses is of primary importance and always has been. At founding, my family originally focused on raising solely Arabians. While there have always and will always be Arabians on the ranch, since I inherited the ranch we have expanded out to also raise Paints and Paso Finos. The Finos are a very recent addition and I have high hopes for them! Our Arabians are bred to be long distance Endurance racers and over the years they've definitely earned a name for themselves in the Endurance world. Our Paints are bred to excel at reining. At some point in the future, I've considered purchasing a small herd of cattle and teaching the Paints to cut as well. We'll see. Last but not least, the newbies to the ranch are our Paso Finos. At the present moment, I am hoping to eventually produce champion speed gaiters. A small number of my herd may also occasionally show in Dressage. We shall see in time. Well, I think that's enough for now. Do be sure to visit this blog often!
